Tenants are now able to send a message from their smart phone to switch the boiler on or off and adjust their heating temperature from outside the home, to help save energy, money and keep warmer   The device also provides humidity readings to encourage families to reduce moisture in their houses.  This will not only have an impact on damp, but will also improve health and wellbeing, including respiratory conditions.  It will also have a positive impact on the condition of Riverside’s houses.

As part of a pilot project, around 100 units will be fitted with 2 Save Energy’s innovative new product, OWL Intuition smart heating controls.  The homes are in Halton Brook, where Riverside is carrying out pioneering work through its Halton Saving Home Energy Challenge.  The OWL Intuition device needs a broadband connection, a hard wired dial room thermostat and a smart phone connected to the internet.

2 Save Energy are proud to announce that they are finalists in the UK Energy Innovation Awards 2013. The awards were created by the Energy Innovation Centre and celebrate technologies working to deliver a low carbon, sustainable and energy efficient future.

This year has seen a record number of entries from innovative energy businesses and individual candidates from places including Israel, the United States, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England.

The expert panel of judges, made up of leading names in the energy industry, say they were  impressed by the breadth and quality of the entries submitted. Denise Massey, Director of the Energy Innovation Centre, said: “The calibre of nominations this year was of an exceptional standard and the judges had a really tough choice when it came to shortlisting. It’s also fantastic to see we had a record number of entries, highlighting the fantastic technologies out there which have real potential in the energy sector. “Congratulations to all of those who made it to the final and we look forward to the awards ceremony celebrating the very best innovation and talent in the industry.” The UK Energy Innovation Awards ceremony will be held at The Radisson Blu Edwardian, Manchester city centre, on Thursday 25 April 2013.
